The premiere of The Red Line London W2 November 2011
"What an amazing performance. Many congratulations. I found the concept most unusual and the finale very dramatic and original. The combination of your rending your poems with the touching role of Violetta singing 'addio del passato' was most moving and beautiful. (......) " Joy Fleishman "Your piece was really beautiful and moving. Well done, all of us there connected and the installations were great." Sally Titterington For testimonials from Medea, see my profile on The Live Art Laboratory website! Poetry cafe, Betterton St, Covent Garden, London W1. March 29th 2010 "After admitting she had been moved to tears, Sheena Patel wrote on her blog Bookfreeq 'On a shoot the other night I heard The Red Line by Sooz Belnavis thought it was beautiful and wanted to share it with you." Poetry Performance, at Missfit Mondays, The Troy Bar, Hoxton Street, London. March-May 2009. "Sooz Belnavis Abbott, is an accomplished painter who introduced herself as an artist who "abstracts the feminine and feminises the abstract". (Try saying that three times fast!). She performed a selection of her poems and they were beautifully written pieces. "Marketplace" with its wares calling out for the buyer to "Take me home and make something of me" conjures up so much more than what one usually hears at such places ("Hey you, come look my things. I give you best price"). My favourite piece was "Three Graces", inspired by three icons of the female world - Kate Moss, Madame Bovary and Marilyn Monroe. Sooz writes lyrically and her words evoke powerful images - with a bit more confidence in her performance skills she could shine on the spoken word scene." Lesley Pinder for Remotegoat. |

This was the first time I have presented all the elements to make a cohesive language to be seen as one body of work. Comments left by some of the viewers: "Wow, you are very talented. I particularly like your nudes. When/how could I see them?" Annette Karmiloff-Smith, CBE. Private Collector "Beautiful blend of femininity and creation, thinking about the disembodied bodies- great!"
